Too Busy to be Healthy?

If your busy lifestyle is getting in the way of your healthy intentions it’s time to rethink your daily routine and try my six health and fitness hacks   I am often asked how I find the time to be so healthy. Simple answer – it takes lot of organization, self-motivation and compromise. We all know by now that living a healthy, active lifestyle is essential and should be one of our top priorities. Only by taking care of ourselves do we stand a chance of being the kind of person we strive to be. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy. Work, in particular, can get in the way of working out—in fact, there is a big paradox going on, and it becomes more obvious the more challenging a job gets. On the one hand, we...

My Behind the Scenes Photo-Shoot Secrets

My Behind the Scenes Photo-Shoot Secrets

Anyone who knows me well knows that I am not one to spend a lot of time on beauty treatments or doing my hair and make-up.  I am too fidgety, I hate all the fussing and I really don’t like having all the attention focused on me.  It’s probably what helped make me such a curious and cynical health and beauty editor. “What are the benefits of this cream, how long will it take to see results, why does it cost so much? etc etc” – you can just imagine the PR sighing and rolling her eyes…. Here I was, a successful health and beauty editor who was feeling increasingly unhealthy and unbeautiful. I was getting stressed and stuck in a cycle of long working days, too much time sat at my desk hunched over a screen, too much coffee, then going to the...

The Workout for People Who Don't Have Time to Workout

I’m not a big fan of exercise classes. After teaching them for years, I’m always re-choreographing the routine, second-guessing the next move or yearning for a cooler playlist. These days, I’m more of a solitary exerciser when it comes to cardio. Turn up, train hard, shower, go – is my gym mantra. But with an increasingly busy schedule I was finding it impossible to squeeze in my usual cardio or kettlebells, which I love to do as a re-energiser and counterbalance to my yoga. The other day, I had a sneaky half an hour free, so off to the gym I popped, planning to jump on the nearest free machine, probably the rower or treadmil. As a walked into the gym, the music was blaring, the floor was scattered with an...
