Calmia is a unique holistic lifestyle brand inspired by Eastern wisdom. Our purpose is to help you to take control of your own wellbeing and lead a happy, healthy and more balanced life. Our product range includes yoga clothing and active wear, yoga accessories, inner beauty products and home fragrance.
Calmia was started in 2001 by Lucy Wakefield, a well-respected health and beauty editor, well known for her passion for yoga and healthy living and her husband the fashion designer, Nick Coleman. Together, they opened the Calmia Holistic Lifestyle Store and Inner Beauty Day Spa, on London’s Marylebone High Street in 2002 to much acclaim and later in 2004 a large concession in Selfridges department store in London.
Practically, a department store for wellbeing, the Calmia stores sold everything from yoga clothing to natural skin care, nutritional supplements, yoga mats and accessories and books and music as well as having its own green tea and herbal elixir bar and large sinks to try out all the beautiful skin and body care products. Appealing to all five senses with Calmia’s signature candles burning to scent the air, water pools filled with rose petals and relaxing spa music greeting customers as they arrived, the Calmia store was an oasis of calm and tranquility. Downstairs, the spa had four treatment rooms beautifully decorated with Balinese antiques and tropical colours and a peaceful meditation room.
Calmia has since grown into an international holistic lifestyle brand and now focuses on wholesaling and retailing its own brand collection of inspiring and beautiful yoga and wellness related products to help people relax and de-stress. While the journey to this point hasn’t always been smooth and without its challenges, by staying to true to Lucy’s original vision of helping our customers to help themselves to lead a more balanced, healthier life, Calmia has become the amazing company it is today. When things didn’t always turn out as we expected, we never gave up or became disheartened, because for Lucy and Nick, Calmia was always more than a business it is a way to life and one we knew many people were interested in leading.
With determination, hard work, attention to detail and great ideas, we continue to build and develop the Calmia brand into the future to become one of the world’s pre-eminent wellbeing lifestyle brands.
